I came across MD Motivator on Instagram, and there is something quite moving about what he does.
His real name is Zachery Dereniowski. He is a Canadian content creator and mental health advocate who was once studying medicine in Australia. He has spoken openly about struggling with depression while in medical school, and eventually leaving that path. But in a way, he still seems to have found a way to care for people, just not in the hospital setting.
On Instagram, he often approaches strangers, starts simple conversations, and finds out what they are going through. Sometimes he surprises them with money. Sometimes he helps raise support for them. Sometimes he simply gives them space to talk. His videos are usually built around ordinary people who are tired, struggling, grieving, or just trying to get through life.
What I like about him is that he does not just talk about kindness. He actually does something with it. He uses his platform to make people feel noticed, and in many cases, to give them practical help as well.
Of course, one video cannot solve every problem in someone’s life. But sometimes, being seen at the right moment can mean a lot. And that is what his work seems to do. It reminds people that they still matter, even when life has been unkind to them.
